"The Kiss Reimagined" was inspired by the love story and political union of Queen of Sheba and King Solomon, as well as "Der Kuss" ("The Kiss"), a symbolist painting by Gustav Klimt from his Golden Period (1907-1908). The romance between the Queen of Sheba, of royal Ethiopian lineage, and King Solomon, son of King David and of royal Israelite descent, is one of history's most captivating love stories.
Queen of Sheba & King Solomon is depicted in an intimate, private moment, free of jewels and grandeur. Their clothing and backgrounds are rendered in bright colors, contrasting with the deep earth tones used for their skin. Careful attention was given to represent their physical features accurately to their regions.
This work is painted in an impressionistic-expressionistic style, using vibrant colors and brisk paint strokes to enhance the emotional depth and intimacy of the scene.
